When I think of luck, I don’t think about big grand gestures like winning the lottery. I approach luck in small tangible ways that allow me to feel lucky on an almost daily basis. I have two recent stories involving what I consider luck, and I’ll share one of them with you today. Do you have a luck story? If so, share it below, we’d love to hear it!
This past week I was having a photo session done to accompany our monthly theme. We met at my local park and I was wearing a pair of earrings, I think are very lucky. The earrings were given to me a present from my dad. For many years my father and I didn’t have the easiest relationship. When he gave me the earrings, it was one of the first presents where I actually felt like he saw me. I think of him whenever I wear them, and I usually wear them when I need a little extra luck. So as I was getting ready at the park, I ran a brush threw my hair and felt an earring come out. In less than a second it was gone.
Now I knew it couldn’t have gone far, but it was nowhere around us in the grass. I didn’t want to hold up the shoot, so we moved forward but the entire time we were shooting I was worried I may have lost the earring forever. When the shoot was finished I looked around our area, but no earring. It was super frustrating too, because this was a gold earring and everywhere around us was green grass… so it should have stood out. But every direction I looked- no earring.
I finally stopped and closed my eyes. I took a deep breath and say a silent ask to the universe, “If this earring is meant to be gone, I will accept that. BUT this does have significance to me and it would be a tremendous gift I could find it.” As I continued to look around the area where we were, I walked up to a tree that was close but seemed far for the earring to be. The grass around the tree was all yellow, and as I looked in the yellow grass, I saw a glimmer of gold. My heart race and it became clear it was my earring. As I picked it up my heart and nervous system flooded with joy, glee, gratitude, and relief… all strong feelings that come when we experience luck. That feeling now gets sparked just by looking at the earrings.
When we have moments like finding a missing item the chemical and emotional response it extremely high. This is why luck is so desirable. When was the last time you had a lucky moment? What feelings came up when you experienced luck?
