Happy Monday Kick Assers! Who's ready for the week? We are diving in to the theme of Luck this month. But here's the deal... I'm approaching this from a soft skills perspective. So what does that mean? Are there soft skills that you can practice which may make you feel luckier and shift how you show up in the world? It turns out there are. After beginning my practice of self love and honoring my authentic self a few things started to shift. One of the first things I noticed was my luck started to improve, or so I thought. I was less stressed in areas that had been causing me anxiety. Things that once used to trigger me seemed to roll through me and not hold my attention for longer than a second. This was a vast improvement compared to how I used to show up. Traffic, rushing, and hustling used to really warp how I showed up. When I began to honor my boundaries, my time, and my intuition my perspective adapted. On the surface it felt like me getting luckier. I felt lucky to get out of the house, so I didn’t mind sitting in traffic. If I was sitting in traffic, I also felt lucky for the opportunity to pause for a moment and accept I don’t have control over my current situation (something 2020 trained us in very well). So on the surface, it seemed I was getting “luckier,” when in reality, the same everyday routes and errands hadn’t changed. The shift was in my perception of these tasks. Bringing my laundry into my local F&F, gave me a chance to check in with the crew there and share normal human interaction. I began to see eye contact and a friendly “hello” as a way to show solidarity and love to each other, and I felt incredible lucky when it was returned to me. Neither of these engagements would have given me pause two years ago, but after a year in isolation with limited contact, I craved and honored authentic human connection. So I became more present when people shared their stories with me. I began to view each interaction as a chance to practice even the smallest of moments of authentic connection. In short I began to care and feel connection to world around me, and that left me feeling deeply lucky for the chance to practice this everyday. So as you head out this week, Kick Assers, remember you got this and you are kicking ass right now. And if you're able to extend your awareness to others and throw a little kick ass energy in their direction, you may be surprised by what comes up. Happy Monday Kick Assers, let's do this!
